WHO WE ARE

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of India’s largest power generation utility, NTPC Limited. It has been incorporated to consolidate renewable energy businesses across NTPC Limited, and aggressively pursue the ambitious targets to add 12 GW renewables by 2025 and 60 GW by 2032. Currently, NGEL commands a portfolio of 2861 MW operational/ under implementation RE projects, comprising both solar and wind power projects. Further, NGEL also holds 100% shareholding of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL).
NGEL plans to build -up capacity through both organic and inorganic routes. While NREL shall act as a vehicle for organic growth, other green energy businesses including green hydrogen/ ammonia, JVs with other companies, and bilateral arrangement with commercial and industrial entities shall be undertaken by NGEL. NGEL aims to be the flag-bearer of renewable energy journey of NTPC Limited, and fulfill its aspiration to become world’s leading integrated and sustainable energy player.

WHY WE JOINED THE ALLIANCE

NTPC was involved in the conceptualization phase of the alliance and has been one of its founding members. As part of global energy transition, the entire energy value chain is rapidly transitioning towards renewables as the ultimate sustainable source of energy. However, sustainability is an evolving and dynamic concept and has multiple interconnected dimensions spread over social and environmental domains. Hence, it becomes the responsibility of energy leaders to explore current technologies and develop partnerships to make existing systems more sustainable.
With this sense of responsibility, NGEL has joined this alliance along with other prominent players of global energy sector to promote sustainability of renewables across its entire value chain. Also, this alliance is in line with NTPC’s Sustainability Strategy i.e. The Brighter Plan 2032 to further its Sustainability commitments. Through this alliance, NGEL has committed to play its part in creating sustainability benchmarks for renewables by partnering in studies, policy advocacy, collaborations and capacity building.
