The Alliance at Glasgow:

Sustainability in the renewables sector at COP26

This event celebrates the ‘in-person’ launch at the Glasgow summit of the Global Alliance for Sustainable Energy and innovative sustainability initiatives in the renewables sector. Here we discuss with leading companies about how we can ensure the renewables sector in general as well as the supply chain can be wholly sustainable for people and the planet.

The event focuses on the following priority areas the Global Alliance for Sustainable Energy is addressing through four working groups:

• Reaching Net Zero – decarbonising operations and supply chains

• Circular economy – setting industry-wide standards and design criteria

• Human Rights – upholding labour rights and inclusivity of civil society and local communities in the ‘Just Transition’

• Environmental impact – long-term sustainable co-existence with the environment, with a focus on biodiversity and water footprint
