John P. Portelli Ph.D., originally from Malta, is a Professor Emeritus of Social Justice Education and Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Toronto. He has taught in Canadian universities since 1982. He has published 11 academic books and over 100 articles.
His research focuses on social justice and human rights; equity, diversity, and policy; quality assurance and higher education; inclusive and ethical leadership. He has led many funded research projects (over a million dollars in grants).
An internationally acclaimed educator, he has delivered keynote addresses and conducted consulting work in Canada, USA, Ireland, UK, Austria, Italy, Turkey, Morocco, Malta, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Portugal, UAE, and Jordan. He is also the author of 11 literary books (poetry, novel and short stories).
